Two Weeks

This is my first post in two weeks. It seems like I haven’t touched this blog in years. I’ve been pretty lazy, yet pretty busy.

Last week we had finals, and my grades turned out okay. I had no C’s, so unlike last year, my parents were pretty happy. Next quarter I am shooting for all A’s, because at my school, if you are a senior and you have an A in a class, you aren’t required to take that final second semester. It’s a great gimmick for students to get good grades. My grades this semester won’t even really affect what college I attend, so this policy will help me keep steady grades.

I’ve been planning more and more for Korea this summer. So far everything looks good. I applied for my passport yesterday, and I should get it in mid-March, which is plenty early. The lady where I applied at was relieved to hear I was leaving in August. Apparently she is getting a lot of applications from students at the University in town so that they can leave for Spring Break. The only problem is that it normally takes six weeks to recieve your passport, so they are having to expedite theirs. Anywho, my parents paid for mine, so I am extremely grateful, because that saves me $115.

As for things we plan to do there, I continually update the backpack page. There are so many things that we can do that I am sure we will not get to all of them. There are a few that we must do, such as visit my friend ??, shop at Dongdaemun Market, visit the MacArthur statue in ??, and visit the Namdaemun Gate in ??. Other than those, it really doesn’t matter to me what we do, because we will be in ??!

We are looking to book tickets very soon, possibly within the week. We have to sit down and iron some stuff out, though, as we disagree as to what kind of flight to take. Also, I have to hear from one final university so that I can decide where I am going to attend. That might seem irrelevant, but I have to know when orientation is and when classes begin, and I can’t be gone then! We will finalize everything after I decide where I am going and once we get the tickets.

Our accomodations look pretty good, too. We will probably be able to stay somewhere for free for 11 out of the 14 days we are there. The three days we will have to stay in a hotel are when we go to ??, but that shouldn’t be too expensive.

Budget-wise, we are aiming for around $3000, give or take about $250. I still owe my dad $780 for wrecking his car, so I have to make just under $4000. During the summer I’ll be working an insane amount of hours per week, so I should be able to make the money. I am also selling things on eBay, so I’ll make a little cash from those auctions. If you can think of any other way I can make money, email me, or talk to me on AIM or MSN if you know my screennames.

Other than studying and planning for Korea, I haven’t been doing much else. I think the only other notable thing I did was drive my dad’s Mercedes at 90 mph with him in the car. I never thought I would get to drive his car, much less at that speed. I had a lot of fun.
