Two Jobs

10-28-2005

Recently I have been under pressure by my parents to get a job because I did $1200 of damage to my dad’s car, so I applied to various places, one being the public library. I got an interview in which I did not think I did very well, and yesterday I received a phone call saying that I was being offered the job. All I have to do is go in for a drug test, and if I pass I get the job at $7.00/hr! I am pretty happy. There is more good news, however.

When I had my senior portraits taken during the summer, I chatted with the photographer about photography and the like, and he said that I might be able to help him shoot weddings the next summer and get paid for it. I was very interested, so when my entire family went back for our family portrait, I gave him a cd with some of my work on it. Today my mom picked up our family shots and he said that he thought some of my shots were really good and basically offered me the job through her. I just have to call him back tomorrow and I should be set for spring. *score* I am so happy today. Now I just need a paycheck.

Steady B

10-20-2005

I got my Calculus test back today. I got an 80, so that puts me at a solid, steady B in the class which makes me pretty happy. Last year in Pre-Calc I was all over the place with grades. One test I would get an A and the next I’d get a D. And next week we have a quarter review test, so if I do well on that I might be able to get a B+ in the class for the quarter. That would be nice.

I was just having a philosophical discussion about the color yellow. How great.

Tonight for my small group we went to one of our leaders’ house and watched part of the Cardinals game. It was pretty fun.

Physics

10-18-2005

Today was pretty good. I got a 9/10 on my Physics quiz, so I was pretty happy. I had a Calculus test too, but I haven’t got the grade back yet. It was kind of hard, but some of it was easy, too.

My application to Illinois State went out in the mail today. I wonder where I’ll end up for college. We will see. I’ve been checking the status of my UIUC application every day and I keep seeing the same thing: Deferred - Manual Review Required. That’s only because my school doesn’t do class ranking because we are so small. UIUC is pretty much my top choice. If I don’t get in there, I don’t know where I’ll go.

Saturday I think I am going to see Corspe Bride with my sister, Song-Yi, and David, but we still have to work out a time and tell David.

The past few days I have been watching a lot of movies and it is getting me in the filmmaking mood. The only thing standing in my way is the lack of a script. Perhaps I’ll be able to procure some ideas and acting talent from people in my class. I haven’t made a movie since last spring. My friends and I did our own version of a scene from A Tale of Two Cities. We all got A+’s. Making a movie pretty much guarantees you an A if you put just a little effort into it. If you are reading this and have any ideas for a movie, just contact me or something.

I have a new design in the works, but I’ve been too lazy too implement it. Look for that soon.

Tomorrow

10-17-2005

Now Playing: Wait, Wait, Wait by the Format

I haven’t done much this weekend. Nothing worth noting, at least.

Tomorrow I have to give a speech in English class. I think that the speech is pretty awesome, but my class will probably not know how to handle it. Too bad for them. I wonder how I can overcome that fact. I’m not sure if it is possible. I hope it goes well. I don’t want to get up there and look like a total idiot. Oh well.

The other day I was watching a movie and something in the movie made me realize that I should live my life to the fullest. I haven’t really been doing that, and it really bugs me now. So from now on I’m going to try to do that.

I’ll probably post again soon.

The Past Few Days

10-14-2005

Hm, lets see. What have I done the past few days.

Tuesday

I pretty much did nothing I think. I can’t really remember. AH! I got my replacement cellphone. My other one had broken at church. I still have to send that back.

Wednesday

Small groups at church. Not much else.

Today

Nothing. Homework I guess. What a boring life. I don’t really do anything at all. I should have gone out today and taken some pictures. But no, I stay home and watch a movie. A rather good movie at that, but still. Tomorrow I’ll do something.

Boredom and College

10-10-2005

I had a significant amount of homework today. Calculus, Worldviews, Spanish, English, and Physics - that’s every class. I have it all done, though.

Tonight I plan on studying some more Korean. I want to at least master the first chapter by this weekend and be on to chapter two. I’ve been procrastinating for too long now. Hopefully I will be able to actually hold an intelligent conversation with my friends by the end of the year.

This Week’s Music Selections:

» Vheissu by Thrice (I’ve just heard it’s good.)
» Commitment by The Felix Culpa
» Bless the Martyr and Kiss the Child by Norma Jean

The Drama Summer

10-08-2005

Here’s a good song:

We could wait for the wind to blow
Or give me a look so cold…It gives me chills
And ends the summer war
My eyes roll
Around and over and again
Falling down, dizzy with sun stroke
I’ll be there
And I’ll try to identify, try to look through the gray skies in your eyes..
And pick up everything you left behind
Cross your fingers, and pray for winter
I’ll be there
Painting the town your favorite color.
Guess I’ll call or see you around….yeah
Guess I’ll call or see you around.
Guess I’ll call or see you around….yeah
Guess I’ll call or see you around.
I’ll call, or see you around….yeah
I’ll call, or see you around.
I’ll call, or see you around….yeah
I’ll call, or see you around.
…painting the town your favorite color.

I love that song. It’s called The Drama Summer and it is by The Starting Line.

My cellphone came to its death last night. I accidentally dropped it and the screen fell off. I can still send and receive calls and talk to the person on the other end, but I can’t hear what they are saying. No txt-messaging either. The camera works, but its of no use because I can’t look at the pictures. Oh well. I needed a new one anyway. The only thing is I’ll probably end up getting my dad’s old one until March when my plan is up. Then I can switch providers if I want to.

My Plans

10-04-2005

This week we have no school on Thursday and Friday.

Thursday I have no plans.

Friday evening I am going to a Korean restaurant with a friend. That will be fun. I wonder what the food will be like.

Saturday evening I am going to see The Felix Culpa, Ammi, So Long Forgotten, and Braille at the Shed. It should be the wrock.

Sunday I have no plans.

How much of what we know is learned? How much is instinct?

If one was to put a baby boy into one room and a baby girl into another, feeding them through an IV until they were old enough to feed themselves, then feeding them through magical appearances of food during the middle of the night after that, what would they do? If they were clothed would they figure out that they could take off their clothes? What would they do about using the bathroom?

If you put them into the same room, how would they react to the sight of another being? How would they communicate with each other? Would they touch each other? Would they feel an immediate attraction to each other? Would they realize that they have different parts? Would they utilize those parts?

What if you gave them dirt, seeds, and water instead of food? Would they figure out to plant the seeds and water them?

I wish someone would do this experiment. It’d be interesting to find out what happens.
