new design

09-25-2004

Yesterday I got back from the retreat at school. The whole thing wasn’t as lame as I thought it would be, but I still didn’t have the best time in the world. We pretty much did nothing the whole time. I didn’t take a shower for the whole thing, and still have yet to take one. After I returned I picked up my check and cashed it. I picked up some strings for my guitar after that. Elixir Acoustic NanoWeb lights to be exact. I hadn’t changed the strings for approximately 2 1/2 years, so my guitar sounded absolutely terrible. I fell asleep with my guitar on my head, and only woke up because my sister came in my room and took it off me and made my bed. All of this was at 8:30. I had been sleeping for about an hour before that, and then slept until 11:00. So about 15-15 1/2 hours of sleep last night. I didn’t sleep that long in the summer! Crazy, eh? Earlier today I purchased the Underworld Extended Cut DVD. I’ve only watched about an hour of it, and I had the commentary on, so there hasn’t been much of a change yet. I’ve noticed a few small things here and there, but nothing major. The picture of Selene in the bottom right hand corner is from the comic book that came with it. I scanned it, and then toyed with it in Photoshop for a while. Then I whipped up this new design around it! Isn’t it gweat? So tonight some friends from Louisiana are staying the night. Haven’t seen them since before I had last changed my guitar strings. If you’re too lazy to do the math, it was August 2001. Should be fun.

Today was the first day of our two day week of school. On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday all of us are going to some camp for a retreat. I go to a small school of about 95 people, so we can do that kind of thing. I’m being given the impression that it won’t be very much fun, however, because its going to be very structured and we are required to do many of the activities that are “fun”. Fun is relative to the person, and I don’t think that the “leaders” at our school understand that. Yes, they can be cool at times, but most of the time they assume everyone likes sports. Yes. I’m ranting about sports. Apparently everyone likes sports, or at least according to them everyone does. Why can’t they have some non-athletic activites for us who don’t like sports? The only activity that is accepted as a sport that I like is volleyball, but only BEACH volleyball. And don’t go throwing in all those complicated rules. I only play for fun, and I highly doubt that at this place we are going that they have a place for beach volleyball. Even if they did, there would be a whole bunch of pesky rules. Yes, there should be at least some, but the whole lifting thing should be thrown out. Some others too, just to make it easier for everyone and more fun. Anway, I won’t be able to post for two of those days [Wednesday and Thursday], but I’ll be back Friday afternoon, so everything should be g-o-o-d. It appears as if it is almost time for me to venture off to work. So long, for now!

MIKE …… IKE!!!!

09-16-2004

I bought some Mike and Ikes today. I love ‘em.

Mike and Ikes!

I also got the latest issue of Import Tuner. It’s a pretty good magazine, with some awesome articles.

Import Tuner!

Speaking of articles….I need to write mine for the school newspaper. I have to interview a member of the school board, which will be cool because the president of the board took me and my friends out to eat last year, so we’re cool with him. It should be easy. Hopefully I’ll be leaving that class, though. It just depends on if my transcript from the community college gets to my high school in time. It better, cause I’m not really liking the class. It’s an elective, but it’s not being very fun, which electives should be.

Monetary Units

09-13-2004

Monetary Units…that sounds like a cool band name. “Get ready for…….THE MONETARY UNITS!!!!!!” Ok, maybe not. Perhaps a cd title. It seems as if I can only come up with cd titles, not band names. A band name is the hardest thing to come up with, because it has to stick and not be too obnoxious…but still be easily remembered. Today I wore all black, in honor of Brice. Many a person thought I was Brice. In about 20 minutes the next episode of Geek Love Radio airs. Too bad my parents are going to make me go to bed in 20 minutes.

For Civics class I’m supposed to follow the campaign of a politician in the area, or even a national one. I chose David Kelley, the libertarian running for president, only to come home and find out that Michael Badnarik is the real libertarian running for pres. I have to get some sort of yard sign or bumper sticker, but I don’t want to give out my home address and start getting all this Libertarian media sent to me when I’m not even old enough to vote. Perhaps I should get a PO Box…..that could be useful. I wonder how much one would cost. Notice my lack of question marks. Isn’t it great? Oops…there’s one.

down the sickness

09-10-2004

Today I stayed home from school sick. The doctor said it was a virus. Maybe the virus of life. Not sure though. I just got done watching Back to the Future! I love that movie. yellog was here for most of it, but then he had to go to work. The other day I noticed one of my friends was on audioscrobbler.com, a site I used to go to. They basically record all the songs you listen to and stuff like that. It’s pretty cool, so I decided to start doing it again. I added a link to my audioscrobbler page over on the left. Check it out!

80’s rock

09-09-2004

I have come to the conclusion that 80’s rock/metal is some of the most awesome music ever created. Hair bands are the best ever. Maybe I should start a hair band. That would be leet. I’ve always wanted to be in a band. Now may be a good time. hmmm……

The other day I was browsing the binrev.com forums, and I came across geek love radio. It’s a radio show for geeks, and it gives relationship advice to geeks, and also has some tech discussion and humor involved. If you’re a geek, I highly recommend it. Even if you aren’t, it’s still a pretty good listen. So yeah, do that. NOW!

Welcome to the wide world of skilar. I have now updated to SP2. Yes. I have. Even though I primarily use *nix. NOW I HAVE SLACKWARE 10.0 SP2!!!!!!!!! lol. Seriously folks, I updated my Windows XP partition to SP2. So far its nice. I don’t notice much of a difference because I don’t use IE or Outlook Express, so the only visible change for me is when booting up. They took the “Home” and “Professional” off of the bootscreen. Yesterday my good friend Kalerido told me about this sweet site orbitalgrooves.com which streams techno music all day…and its live! The music is pretty good. They have some talented DJs over there. Check it out!!! Oh, and check this out.

skateboard…ing…

09-02-2004

Yesterday David (Schilling) brought his skateboard to church. I used to skateboard about two years ago, but then I stopped and sold bits and pieces of my board until all I had left was the metal part of the truck and the wheels. I liked skating on David’s board so much that today I went and spent $108 on a new deck, bearings, grip tape, hardware, and the plastic part of the truck. The deck I got is made by Girl, one of the Eric Koston models to be more specific. What do you think about that $user? I think its pretty leet! So I assembled it and stuff and skated for a while. Much fun. lol. This image by request:
